The Vision of Ralph Goldman: Partnering to Build a Strong Jewish Future
Special Tribute Edition. Journal of Jewish Communal Service. Volume 81, Issue 1/2: Fall/Winter 2005

Vol. 80 No. 2-3
This issue, in tribute to the legendary Jewish leader, Ralph Goldman, was underwritten by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, which Ralph led with vision, passion and courage. Ted Comet and Jeff Solomon guided the creation and content of the Journal and it details the many aspects of Ralph’s work which impacted the development of Israel’s social services, the building of Jewish community centers in the FSU and Israel, and Ralph’s thoughtful consideration of the role of the professional in shaping strategies and policies.

A number of articles reflect a global outlook and there are important articles by Steve Schwager and Howard Rieger, heads of the JDC and UJC, respectively. There are numerous other articles for consideration, including pieces on foundation funding in Jewish philanthropy, tikkun olam, Jewish identity and a thoughtful consideration of what is required to define the field of Jewish communal leadership, written by Jerry Bubis.
